The Lafayette and garage is nearing completion!

The progress on the revised Lafayette near the Greenville model continues to move along at a pace that is delighting the homeowner. Each day, something is being installed or erected. The jacuzzi tub for the master bath has been set, the sheetrock walls and ceilings have been hung, soon they will be mudded and taped. The kitchen and bath cabinets have been ordered and will be installed this week. The FREE GARAGE that the customer received has been completed with shingles on the roof and stained to match the home. You will see below, shots of the garage before and after the stain was applied and you will notice what a difference it makes!

The happy homeowner is looking forward to enjoying the Thanksgiving holiday in his new log home. He is anxious to show it to his friends and family.

The garage is coming along nicely!

Nine weeks have come and gone since Halford Home Builders started building this warm and cozy log home for a retired engineer. The FREE garage package that the customer received for purchasing a Southland Log Home, is nearing completion as the roof system is being framed and the decking has been installed, 30 lbs felt paper with shingles will be installed later this week. Week Six ~ The windows and doors are in as well as the interior walls!



It is now week six of the construction on the Lafayette in Piedmont, SC. The log siding has been installed on the gable ends. The windows and doors are in. The interior walls are up and the rough electrical is completed and the rough plumbing has begun. (Some pictures below will show work done to the inside of the house.) The log siding has been put on the sill plates. This customer is delighted that his house is now in dry, lockable condition in just over five weeks. The log courses have been caulked with the Southland Tan caulk provided by Southland. The Woodguard exterior stain provided by Southland will be applied to the entire home by the end of the week. The home will look finished from the outside with the exception of the handrails and pickets for the porches and decks. Below you will see pictures that were taken over the period of a week and you will notice the progress that has been made. Earlier pictures show the windows going in, next are some inside shots of the interior walls, a few pictures further down will show the doors that have now been installed, you will also see the log siding on the gable ends.

All materials with the exception of the electrical and plumbing, have been provided by Southland Log Homes. The homeowner is busy making his choice of finish materials and specifications with his Southland Log Homes preferred builder, Bova Halford from Halford Home Builders. Shingle all the way!


It has been just four weeks since the first spade of dirt was turned on this project. The roof was completed Thursday with a beautiful 30 year achitectural shingle. All that is left to be done on the outside is to install the exterior windows and doors, the soffit materials, and log siding in the gables. The homeowner is delighted with the progress that Halford Construction is making on this Lafayette tucked away in the woods on over 70 acres. It will not be long before this excited homeowner will be enjoying the log home of his dreams.

House really starts to take shape!


It is nearing the end of the third week of construction of the Lafayette and the homeowner is delighted with the progress. The roof trusses are on, the gable trusses are being constructed and the log siding for the gables soon to follow.

This homeowners dream log home is really starting to take shape. He is building it on over 70 acres of family land that he has always dreamed of retiring on. After 30 years of working as a Computer Engineer for Boeing, he is looking forward to retiring and taking life easy, relaxing in his beautiful, new Southland Log Home. With lots of porches and decks, tons of outside grilling and entertaining for friends and family will be enjoyed for many years to come.

Log stacking is underway!

It has only been a week since the the foundation was poured, but great progress is being made by the homeowner. The subfloor system is complete and the log stack is well underway. The window and door bucks are in and the roof system should be going on in a couple of days. The interior stud walls will follow.

It's coming along nicely! The subfloor and decking is complete.















It is day five of building the Lafayette. The subfloor is in, complete with a full front porch and right elevation porch decking, as you will see from the photos below. The log stack will begin tomorrow. All has gone very well and real progress will begin once the log stack is underway. Please keep checking back on a regular basis to track the progress.
